OUR CARE
The experiences
that matter.
Explore residential care, dementia care, respite stays and end-of-life support at our small, family-run home.
Residential care
24-hour support, 365 days a year.
At Little Gaynes Rest Home, our dedicated care staff offer personal care and support to help people lead happy, safe and comfortable lives while maintaining as much independence as possible.
Support is tailored to each person’s needs and may include assistance with getting up, going to bed, toileting, dressing, taking medication and bathing. We aim to empower residents to enjoy their preferred lifestyle and engage in activities they love.
By getting to know each individual and understanding what is important to them, we personalise care, activities and meals to create a comfortable, enjoyable home environment.
Is residential care the right choice?
Choosing care can feel overwhelming, with many options and emotions involved. Our team is here to support residents, families, friends and advocates. Talk to us about your situation so we can explore whether Little Gaynes is the right fit.
Dementia care
Understanding the person, as well as their care needs.
Our care team is available 24 hours a day, providing personal and social care, comfort and positive engagement for residents living with dementia.
What is residential dementia care?
Residential dementia care follows the principles of general residential care, with a focus on the individual needs of people living with dementia. We recognise that dementia affects everyone differently, and our support is flexible as needs change.
Understanding each person’s experience, preferences and life story helps us support their favourite activities and maintain their independence as much as possible.
Some people also need nursing support for other health conditions. Little Gaynes provides residential personal care, not on-site nursing care. We discuss these needs during assessment and work with appropriate health professionals to establish whether we can safely meet them.
Support for the whole family
We understand that finding dementia care can be an emotional decision. Speak to our team about your loved one’s needs, ask questions and arrange a visit to get to know the home.
Respite care
A short stay. A warm welcome.
Respite care offers a short-term stay at Little Gaynes. Stays may be planned in advance or requested when circumstances change, subject to availability and a care assessment.
Planned respite care
A planned stay gives a family member or other primary carer time to look after their own health and wellbeing. This might be for a holiday, medical needs or a period when they are temporarily unable to provide care.
Unplanned respite care
A short stay may be helpful following illness or an accident, when the usual carer cannot provide the support needed, or while additional services or adjustments at home are arranged. We assess each person’s needs before confirming a stay.
What is a respite stay like?
A personalised care plan is created with the individual and their loved ones, covering their assessed residential or dementia care needs. Any nursing or clinical needs are considered with relevant health professionals as part of assessing suitability.
Guests can enjoy companionship with residents and our caring team, activities, social interactions and events. Our in-house catering team prepares a variety of home-cooked meals to help make the stay comfortable and enjoyable.
A chance to experience life here
A short stay can also be an opportunity to experience our care, support, companionship and dining before considering a permanent move.
End-of-life care
Comfort, dignity and the people who matter most.
End-of-life care supports people as they approach the end of their life. Support and planning can begin well before a person’s final days. We understand these conversations can be difficult and emotional, and our team is here to listen.
Care shaped around each person
We take time to understand each resident’s preferences, needs and important relationships. This helps us create a homely environment and provide personal support in keeping with their wishes.
Residents are supported to enjoy activities, hobbies and home-cooked meals according to their preferences, comfort and abilities.
Planning together
Advance care planning gives residents and their loved ones the opportunity to discuss and record their wishes: how they would like to be supported, who they want with them, and any arrangements important to them before and after their death.
We work alongside health professionals and hospice services, with clinical care provided by the appropriate professionals. Our focus is compassionate personal care, support for families and a dignified approach that respects each person’s wishes.
